More rooms in use. More reasons good Wi-Fi matters
Coverage, not just speed, is what keeps modern households moving. TalkTalk U helps get Wi-Fi where life actually happens.

Wi-Fi built around you

You might have ultrafast broadband. But if the signal doesn’t reach where you need it, that amazing speed doesn’t matter.
It's not how fast. It's how far
Wi-Fi shouldn’t just enter your home. It needs to reach you
That’s why we’re focused on what really benefits you:
- Full-home coverage
- Fewer blank spots
- Smarter setups, tailored to your home
- Paying for exactly what you need – no wastage on speed you don’t need
Let's break it down

Frequently Asked Questions (7 items)
- How can I get TalkTalk U?
We’re still shaping and fine tuning what TalkTalk U will become, so for the time being we’ve only made it available to a select number of customers. This is so we can tailor the experience to what people need. From there, we’ll roll it out in stages across the country. Enter your postcode now to see if it’s already available to you. If not, easily register your interest now to stay ahead of the curve - and help us build a better way to Wi-Fi.
- Why does my Wi-Fi work in some rooms but not others?
Wi-Fi’s quite particular – it doesn’t love walls, floors or long distances. That’s why you might get full bars in the kitchen but have buffering nightmares in the bedroom. The signal weakens as it travels, so coverage can vary from room to room.
Speed’s only half the story. You could have 900 Mbps, but if your signal can’t reach the sofa, it’s no good. That’s why we’re shifting the focus from just fast speeds to full-home coverage. - What if my speed changes?
Simply put, your monthly price will stay the same. You’ll just be moved on to a speed that matches your usage levels that month, with no change in price.
- If my speed goes down, will my price go down?
No, your monthly price would stay the same. Just as it would if your speed goes up.
- What speeds will I have in my household?
This is where TalkTalk U really shines. Based on the data we have, plus your usage needs, we may adjust your speeds to one of the following options:
65 Mbps
150 Mbps
500 Mbps
900 Mbps
TalkTalk U has been designed to give you more than enough speed for your needs – whether that’s gaming, dialling into Teams calls, or streaming 4K. For a more detailed breakdown of speeds, click here.
- How do you access data about my house?
We’re in partnership with a 3rd party data provider who uses various sources to help us build an accurate picture of what your households needs.
- What if I want a fixed broadband speed?
We’ve got you covered and will still offer our traditional broadband plans of Full Fibre 65, 150, 500 and 900 - view those deals here.

Broadband Speed Code of Practice
At TalkTalk, we’ve voluntarily signed the residential version of Ofcom’s Code of Practice. This means we share speed information—both upload and download—and details about factors affecting speed, either upfront or after sale, with our customers.
Speed estimates are based on actual performance metrics from customers using the same product during peak hours, following Ofcom’s methodology. This helps customers make informed decisions when selecting our products. These speeds refer to the connection from TalkTalk to your router or hub and do not include Wi-Fi speeds between your hub and wireless devices.
We provide the following information across various customer touchpoints:Speeds: Normally available (download and upload), minimum (download and upload), maximum (download and upload), and advertised/headline (download and upload)
Traffic: Explanation of actual speeds, influencing factors, speeds required for common uses, and any policies that could affect speed
The Code gives customers the right to exit their contract without penalty if their speed falls below the Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed we promised. Specifically, if your actual download speed falls below the minimum guaranteed download speed provided at the point of sale on a daily basis for at least three successive days—whether continuously or intermittently—after reporting a speed issue, and we’re unable to resolve it within 30 days, you may cancel without penalty.
If you're a new customer on the Fibre 35/65, your line will go through a stabilisation period of 10 days, when your speeds may fluctuate.
For more details about how the methodology, our commitments, and your rights under the Code, please visit Ofcom's dedicated page here.If you’re using an eero device provided by TalkTalk, we recommend using the speed test within the eero app. For other devices, please visit our speed test page. To help determine the right speed for your needs, please check our speed guidance page.
Please note:The Broadband Speed Code of Conduct (post- 1 March 2019) protects you if your throughput speed is lower than what we promised when you signed up
