LONDON (Reuters) - Boy band JLS went straight in at the top of the singles charts on Sunday with their debut release "Beat Again."

Building on the momentum they generated with their run to the final of talent show The X-Factor, the four-member R&B band knocked Cascada and "Evacuate the Dancefloor" from the top spot.

In third were the Black Eyed Peas as their single "I Gotta Feeling" climbed seven spots from 10th last week.

Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" dropped one place to five, while "Bulletproof" by La Roux fell two spots to number four.

In the album charts, Michael Jackson showed the strength of his popularity, with fans snapping up copies of his albums following his unexpected death last month.

Michael Jackson "The Essential" held on to the top spot, while "Thriller" rose one place to number three and "The Motown Years" by Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five was in fourth place, up one spot from last week.
