Will Jeff Bridges reign supreme in the acting stakes?
Bridges is the strong favourite at the Oscars, but the relatively late release of Crazy Heart may have an impact on his chances in Britain. However, he is bound to be a popular choice for many voters.
Serkis' extraordinary performance as the late Ian Dury - including letting one side of his body atrophy in order to portray his condition - is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year. It would be a surprise if he triumphed, but not undeserved.
