Born Jorge Leodoro, Nadia Almada was Big Brother’s first transsexual housemate but kept her past as a man a secret from the other contestants.

Viewers were won over by her emotional Diary Room chats, in which she openly worried about how she would be received by her housemates and the outside world.

She was also famed for showering in her high heels and forming the “lip gloss b*****s” with her friends Marco and Michelle.

When she won the show with 74 per cent of the vote after 71 days in the house, she said she felt “accepted” by the British public.

Since Big Brother, she has dabbled in a pop career, with her 2004 single A Little Bit of Action reaching No 27 in the UK charts.

She has made numerous TV appearances, including a guest spot in teen soap Hollyoaks when she turned on the Christmas lights, a visit to the Big Brother house in Australia and other reality shows.

She is currently working on her own jewellery line, which she describes as “high end”, and hopes to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest. She is single.
