Mourning lucas visits ill pal john

Grieving comic Matt Lucas has made a rare public outing following the suicide of his ex-husband - to visit ailing pal Sir Elton John in hospital.

The Little Britain star was left devastated by the death of his former partner Kevin McGee, who was found hanged in his Edinburgh, Scotland apartment in October (09).

Lucas immediately pulled out of his West End run in play Prick Up Your Ears to mourn his loss, and has hardly left the privacy of his London home since.

But on Tuesday (03Nov09) the funnyman took time to visit the bedside of the Rocket Man, who is in hospital in the capital fighting severe flu symptoms and E.Coli food poisoning.

Lucas made the hospital trip with John's partner David Furnish.

A spokesperson for the rocker, who has been forced to cancel a string of U.K., Ireland and U.S. gigs, insists his client is on the mend, saying, "Elton is responding to the drugs well."
