All about this star

In a nutshell

Scarlett is what we'd expect to be a happy mix of New York and Dane. Her father was a Danish architect and her mother a New Yorker. We love it already.

Scarlett's mother started taking her to auditions from an early age and her screen debut happened at the age of nine. So it's safe to say she knows a thing or two about the business...

One of her biggest roles came with the 2003 movie Lost in Translation, starring alongside Bill Murray. She was nominated for a Golden Globe yet didn't win, but managed to bag a BAFTA for Best Actress. The film was a critical success and received praise from critics around the world.

Although she's managed a lot of successes, Scarlett's appeal waned after a string of less popular films. Let's have a little run down and see if you remember any of these gems; Scoop? (Nah, we don't either. She starred along Hugh Jackman in this one). The Black Dahlia? (Nah, we don't either). The Nanny Diaries? (Nah, again, we don't either. Perhaps best to focus on the good stuff, eh?).

Things picked up for Scarlett with the release of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, her third Woody Allen film which was released in 2008. Another popular (although less so with the critics) release was He's Just Not That Into You, a 2009 romantic comedy.

Being a beautiful actress certainly has its perks, none more so than when you're signed up to start in expensive, high-profile advertising campaigns. Scarlett is a popular choice judging by the list of clients she's managed to accumulate. She's currently the face of Dolce and Gabbana cosmetics but has also been centre stage for the likes of L'Oreal, Calvin Klein and Louis Vitton.

Much to the anger of women all over the world it seems Scarlett is now happily married to the Canadian movie-hunk Ryan Reynolds.

Did you know?

Despite being well known for some really intense, gritty acting roles... Scarlett was more than happy to lend her voice to The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, released in 2004.
