Noel Edmonds - Biography

In a nutshell

Noel is a true entertainment legend. Son of a school headmaster, Noel started out as a newsreader on Radio Luxembourg before shifting across to groovy BBC Radio 1. A rule in showbusiness is never to take too many holidays, because some new person will come along and snatch your show. And when Noel started filling in for other people he proved a massive success, landing his own Saturday show and eventually the Breakfast Show between 1973 and 1978.

One of Noel's famous television roles was, after presenting Top of the Pops on and off, his Multi-Coloured Swap Shop. It was a huge success between 1976 and 1982.

But, let's be honest, our favourite part of Noel was his crinkly bottom. That's right, Noel's House Party ? his Saturday night entertainment show. It was a massive show and ran for eight years on BBC One. When it eventually did end, Noel disappeared for a while. But he returned to television with Deal Or No Deal on Channel 4.

The show was a big hit despite the fact that it's simply a load of random boxes and there's absolutely no 'strategy' behind any of it, despite what the contestants seem to think. Oh well, it can be entertaining while we're waiting for Paul O'Grady to come on...

Noel was married to Gillian Slater but they divorced. He then married Helen Soby but, after having four daughters, also divorced in 2004. Noel is now frequently in the tabloids pictured with female companions.
