Mischa Barton - Biography

In a nutshell

Born in Hammersmith, London, Mischa didn't become a full and good American citizen until 2006.

You probably didn't know much about Mischa until she appeared in 'The OC'. And we have to admit, neither did we. But it looks like she had quite a busy childhood before enduring all sorts of loved-up drama in the Orange County.

She's been in films 'The Sixth Sense', 'Notting Hill', 'St Trinians' and 'Lawn Dogs'. We can't remember exactly but we think she might have been the dead girl in 'The Sixth Sense' but maybe we should watch it again next time it's on TV and check...

'The OC' is probably the show which propelled Mischa to stardom. Starring as Marissa Cooper, she went through the typical up's and down's of a really rich young person growing up in California. And she fell in love with the non-stereotypical bad boy... After a good few years she felt she'd outgrown her role and decided to quit. Although it was more of a case of jumping off a sinking ship, really. 'Killed' in a dramatic car crash at the end of series 3, she decided to spent some time in London. We've just watched the tear-jerking scene on YouTube. Pass the tissues, someone!

Like any good Hollywood star, Mischa has been arrested for driving under the influence in December 2007. She was spotted by police and released on $10,000 bail. Speaking afterwards, she said 'I'm not perfect and I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again'.

Mischa is really busy selling us lots of products. And for super consumers like is, it's easy to fall for such messages. She's modelled for Calvin Klein, Monsoon, Neutrogena and most recently designed a range of handbags for the clothing website ASOS. Apparently she was very 'hands on' in the design of the range.

At the moment we don't really know what Mischa is up to. But she's been involved in London Fashion Week and the tabloids have snapped her out and about with Josh Hartnett. Actually, before we finish, you should know that Mischa suffered what the papers are calling a 'fashion malfunction' at London Fashion Week. She flashed a breast when leaving one of the shows. Too much champagne, darling?
