Although not a major 'celeb', Kevin Whately has been in a remarkable range of programmes and stage shows.
Born in Hexham, Northumberland, Kevin now lives in Milton Keynes and went to school at Barnard Castle ? a true Northerner!
Kevin's career has seen him star in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and roles in Peak Practice and Inspector Morse. There's also a spin off called Lewis, in which Kevin walks around in a long mackintosh coat solving crimes. Perfect.
Because the main Morse programme had to end after the title character's death, ITV decided that the show could still go on, casting Kevin in his own programme called Lewis. Now we might need out eyes checked but there isn't much difference between this and the original show, so I guess everyone is happy.
We hope you didn't know this because we were pretty impressed when we heard but Kevin actually applied to be a Blue Peter presenter in 1980 but obviously wasn't good enough with his scissors and sticky tape, losing out to Peter Duncan.
