James Corden - Biography

In a nutshell

James is the big, bubbly comedian that you'll know if you're one of those posh people who can afford digital TV in these troubled financial times, for his show is on BBC Three (or at least it was the last time we checked).

Brought up in the rather lovely area of High Wycombe, James attended the local drama school but didn't end up going to University, instead waiting eight years for his first proper part while all the time watching his friends get cracking roles in paint adverts and stuff.

But, roles did eventually come and you might very well remember Fat Friends, the ITV drama which attempted to make 'larger folk' feel a bit better about themselves. As well as that there was the brilliantly camp Channel 4 show Boyz Unlimited which saw a blonde James feature as a boyband member.

Now, we're not going to deny that we're a fan of Hollyoaks. And we know you are too. So you'll remember that James cropped up as the local college caretaker for a few months back in 2001. However he's since gone on record to say he'd rather die than go back to that show. And here was us thinking Max and OB seemed pretty sweet!

His most famous role is playing Smithy is Gavin & Stacey, which he co-wrote with Ruth Jones who appeared alongside him in Fat Friends. They've been seen in G&S eating a bucket of fried chicken, fat fans.

The friendly nature of James, combined with the fact you just want to cuddle up to him on a cold day means that he's gone down well with the public, winning the award for Best Male Comedy Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards in 2007.
