All about this star
In a nutshell
Somebody might as well stick a sign around Heather's neck painted with the words 'Most Hated Partial Celebrity Female Ever'. Because that's what she's become, unfortunately. The ex-wife of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has had her life splashed onto the tabloids without much of a good word said.
Heather first 'hit London' when she moved down to Clapham and worked in a jewellery shop, a casino, a sunbed salon and a bar. She's written about these times but a lot of the people involved appear to have their own version of events. So either Heather is telling a few porkie pies or the people involved have a bad memory, we're not sure.
Heather was involved in an accident in 1993; while crossing a road she was knocked over by a police motorbike which was travelling to an incident. The injury she suffered resulted in her losing her left leg from below the knee. It's this injury which made her set up a charity helping to deliver prosthetic limbs to people who need them.
The next stage of her life was about to begin when she met Sir Paul McCartney at the Pride of Britain awards in April 1999. Paul later donated a sum of money to Heather's charity and, later, sang backing vocals on a charity single being recorded by Heather and her sister. They grew close and started regularly appearing together. Eventually they were to get married, with Paul proposing in 2001 and the marriage taking place in 2002.
When you're married to a Beatle you're never really going to be the most popular person around, as Heather soon found out. The pair ended their marriage in 2006, with a court hearing taking place she was awarded a fair sum of cash, although not as much as she wanted. But I suppose that's what happens when you represent yourself in the High Court, gulp.
Heather is still an activist, supporting charities and trying to make people listen to her. And sometimes crying on GMTV. Heather, keep it up!
Obviously, as somebody who tends to stay out of the limelight, we thought it must have been some mistake when we heard that Heather had signed up to be a contestant on the 2010 series of ITV1's Dancing On Ice. But no, it's true. She hit the ice with various other 'celebs' and, at the time of writing, we don't really care much more to mention it :(
