Setting up a network camera for use at home is easy. Setting one up to be accessed over the internet, on the other hand, is not.The first hurdle is the ‘dynamic’ IP address that most internet service providers (ISPs) assign to home users. This is the number that identifies your connection to the internet – your broadband router, in this case – and you need to know it to access your network camera. The trouble is that dynamic IP addresses can change, locking you out of your camera when you are away from home. There are a couple of other problems too and you may need help to complete the job.In this Workshop we will explain how to master ‘dynamic DNS’ and ‘port forwarding’, the two networking technologies involved.Baffled by jargon?
