Securely remove data from a hard disk

Deleting files from a hard disk, or even formatting (wiping) the drive, outwardly appears to remove all trace of the stored data. Sadly, though, that’s not what really happens. In reality, someone with bit of technical knowledge may be able to salvage some or all of the information. Obviously this presents a security risk, especially when selling or disposing of an old hard disk.In this Workshop, we’ll show how a free tool called Killdisk can be used to securely erase sensitive files and folders. Before continuing, though, remember that this utility will permanently delete all data on the chosen disk. There is no way of recovering the data – once it has been erased from your computer, it’s gone forever, so caution is advised. Click here to open the Killdisk download page.Baffled by jargon?
