Remove a Facebook account

Author: Computeractive Staff
Date: 10-08-2009

When internet users realised that it wasn’t possible to delete a Facebook account, there was a bit of a kerfuffle.Facebook, many felt, was being overly ‘helpful’ by offering to keep all the personal data associated with an account just in case the person changed their mind at some point in the future and wanted to join up again.Early attempts by the social networking crew to get around this and offer ‘proper’ deletion, were long-winded and confusing.Even the current process is tucked away in the Help system to such an extent that we still feel it’s worth walking through, so that anyone who has had enough of social networking can completely remove their details from the Facebook site once and for all.
