Those little memory cards that fit inside digital cameras are brilliant – except when it comes to trying to recover photos from them that have been deleted by accident. Then, they become notoriously difficult to deal with. Indeed, many people have ended up paying someone else to recover their photos from memory cards. However, you may be able to do the job yourself, for free. Nothing’s guaranteed of course – and the program we’ll be using here, called Photorec, uses a command-line interface that will have some people running for the hills. Fortunately, Photorec is a bit easier to use than it may look from the screenshots. Moreover, it helped us to recover dozens of photos that had been deleted from our office camera. Read on to learn how to use it.
