We’re going to get a little more sophisticated with Google Earth, by adding content ‘balloons’ that may contain photos or other graphical elements, text, headings, captions and links. Indeed, for readers with some knowledge of HTML, it’s possible to add even more than this. The starting point is a KML Keyhole Markup Language template. Google provides a small selection of these for free download to get things going, and although it’s not necessarily the most intuitive way of working, the results are excellent and allow mapping enthusiasts to add a wide range of interesting and good-looking content to Google Earth. This Workshop explores how to download and personalise one of these templates and then save it.Click here to see our Workshop on route planning in Google Earth
