MFPs designed to tackle a range of business needs

Samsung has expanded its range of enterprise hardware with five new printers designed to meet a range of business needs.

The company announced two new printers last week, and has boosted the range with a further five models.

The multifunction models use Samsung’s eXtensible Open Architecture (XOA) which lets customers and developers create and modify applications that specifically meet in-house needs.

The A3 and A4 printers come in a range of sizes and colour options, including the CLX-9350ND and CLX-9250ND A3 colour MFPs, the CLX-8385ND and CLX-8385NX A4 colour models, and an A4 mono range.

All printers include security and management features, built in hard drives, colour touch-screen displays and USB ports for direct printing.

Samsung also announced a strategic partnership with SafeCom to boost the security of the hardware and enterprise printed material.

"Building on Samsung’s XOA platform we are launching a fully embedded solution to deliver pull printing, job accounting, security and environmental solutions to Samsung’s new range of A3 and A4 MFPs," said Stephen Lee, UK and Ireland director at SafeCom.

SafeCom’s Enterprise Smart Printing gives administrators centralised control of printing and the print network, and offers high-end security features such as PIN or smartcard access.

Samsung said that features like the touch screen are designed to be fully customisable, while the use of XOA should make it easy to fit printer and document tasks into the wider business workflow.

Developers can connect a printer to a web service on a server and customise its display with logos, or create personalised home screens for users, the firm said.

The new printers could cut printing costs by around 15 per cent, according to Samsung.
