Feature offers split log-ins on one machine
Google has added a feature to its hosted Apps service allowing users to sign in with multiple accounts on one computer.
Some users were able to select the Multiple Sessions option from within the account settings pages this morning, although Google has not made an official comment on its availability.
Changing to the multiple option brings up a warning page explaining that this is an advanced feature, but enabling it allows separate instances of items like the Calendar application to open on the same device.
The open page displays the name of the account at the top or bottom of the screen, and Google said that users should "always check to make sure you’re using the account you want".
Selecting the multiple option is not without its sacrifices, and Google has warned that offline email messages will not be sent and could be lost.
Multiple sign-ins currently work on Google’s Gmail, Calendar, Reader, Code and Sites apps.
Google has also added a Search History feature which it claims makes it easier for users to rediscover web pages they have forgotten to bookmark.
Mobile and desktop searches can be saved for later rediscovery, and Google has added thumbnail images to the results making it easier to find the sites.
Search History is available only in the US at present, and Google in the UK could not confirm when or whether the feature will hit UK shores.
