Make the most of this tip for Word
Although the method of creating fractions you mentioned works, I find that the resulting fraction is rather ungainly and takes up too much vertical space on the page.
My solution is to use a combination of superscript and subscript formatting to create the fraction. I also find this a much simpler method than using the field codes in Word.
To create a fraction of seven 36ths, press Ctrl, Shift and = together to enter superscript mode. Next, type 7 /.
Press Ctrl and = together to switch to subscript mode and then type 36. Press Ctrl and = again to exit the subscript mode and return to normal text.
To apply this formatting to text that is already on the page, select the text by clicking and dragging with the mouse or holding down shift as you press the left or right arrows. Press Ctrl and = to make the text subscript and Ctrl, Shift and = to make it superscript.
