England World Cup qualifying campaign
England 5-1 Croatia Wembley Stadium 9 September 2009 England secured qualification for the 2010 World Cup in fine style, dismissing an unravelling Croatia who were a shadow of their former selves. A 0-0 draw between Ukraine and Belarus earlier in the evening had left England needing only a point to qualify, but two goals apiece for Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, plus one from Wayne Rooney saw them comfortably through with two fixtures remaining.
