An intriguing bivalve mollusc that bores into sandstone and other soft rocks. Shell is pale buffish brown and surprisingly fragile considering it is used to perform the boring process. In suitable substrates, often found at considerable densities on lower shore. Widespread and often common in SW Britain and Ireland.
