Snakelocks Anemone
Anemonia sulcata
Height up to 10cm

Rather squat and flattened sea anemone which is unable to retract its tentacles. Attached to rocks on middle and lower shores by sucker-like base. Body colour variable but commonly grey-brown or purplish green; tentacles same colour as body but often purple-tipped. Common on W and SW coasts of Britain and Ireland.
