More closely related to corals than to true sea anemones. Found in small colonies attached to rocks on lower shore around SW and W coasts of Britain and Ireland; often in gullies or crevices. Body colour usually pale buffish white but sometimes pale grey-green; tentacles tipped with iridescent pinkish purple.
