A mainly pelagic jellyfish but sometimes seen in inshore waters from piers or boats during summer months; occasionally washed ashore during gales. Umbrella-shaped body is marked with dark central spot and dark red radiating lines. Long tentacles suspended from lobed margin. Mainly off S and W Britain and Ireland.
