Diameter up to 5cm

Identified by its distinctive shape and the five radiating arms projecting as short tips from the otherwise pentagonal outline. Upper surface is rather rough and usually blotched pinkish yellow and grey-brown; some specimens are greenish brown. Underside yellowish grey with numerous tube-feet. Widespread and often common off S and W British and Irish coasts. Found under rocks on lower shore.
