Height up to 60cm

Showy perennial of upland meadows and open woodlands, usually found on base-rich soils. Absent from much of S England but locally common elsewhere. Leaves deeply cut into 5­7 lobes. Reddish purple flowers are 20­30mm across; appear June­August.
