Knapweed Broomrape

Height up to 70cm

Imposing root parasite, mainly of knapweeds. Locally in S and E England, mostly on calcareous soils. Stem is robust and yellowish with brown, scale-like leaves. Yellow-brown flowers are borne in a tall, dense spike which appears June­July.
