Height up to 20cm

Small, evergreen shrub found on acid soils in woods and on moors. Locally common only in N England and Scotland. Leaves are leathery, dark green and oval. Pink, bell-shaped flowers, 5­6mm long, appear May­July; red berries ripen in autumn.
