Familiar bird of gardens and grassland but numbers have declined markedly in recent years. Easily told from mistle thrush by smaller size, more dainty appearance and orange-red underwing. Upperparts warm brown with hint of orange-buff wingbar and pale underparts well marked with dark spots and with buff flush to breast.
