Length 14-15cm
Has rather nondescript plumage with streaked brown upperparts and pale streaked underparts. A common resident on open, grassy areas throughout Britain and Ireland, in winter, numbers being boosted by influx of continental birds. Utters
pseet pseet pseet call and has trilling, descending song which is delivered in flight but starting from ground or fencepost, not tree as in tree pipit.
