An unobtrusive wetland warbler whose loud, explosive song is often the first indication of its presence. A recent addition to British list but now a firmly established resident in many suitable reedbed and marshland locations in S England. Plumage rather nondescript comprising dark brown upperparts and pale greyish buff underparts; rounded tail adds to impression of outsized wren. Song
