Very local resident of large reedbeds in S and E England, particularly E Anglia. Has long tail and mainly sandy-brown plumage; male has blue-grey head and conspicuous black 'moustaches'. Usually seen in small groups, clambering up reeds or flying, one after the other. Utters distinctive pinging calls.
