English rugby union player. Playing on the wing, he was England's most capped player until surpassed by Jason Leonard and finished his career as England's record try scorer with 49 tries in 85 internationals 198496. Underwood helped England to win the Grand Slam in 1991, 1992, and 1995. He toured twice with the British Lions, to Australia in 1989 and to New Zealand in 1993. In 1999 he retired as a player and continued his flying career with the Royal Air Force.
