Lord's
Cricket ground in St John's Wood, London. One of England's test-match grounds and the headquarters of one of cricket's governing bodies, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), since 1788 when the MCC was formed following the folding of the White Conduit Club. It is widely regarded as the Home of Cricket.
The ground is named after Yorkshireman Thomas Lord (1757–1832) who developed the first site at Dorset Square in 1787. He moved the ground to a field at North Bank, Regent's Park, in 1811, and in 1814 developed the ground at its present site at St John's Wood. Lord's is also the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club.
The MCC on 28 September 1998 voted in favour of admitting women for the first time in its 211-year history.
