Any musical instrument where a column of air (created by the player's breath) vibrates in a tube (the body of the instrument), producing a sound. There are two main types of wind instrument:
woodwind instruments, including flute, piccolo, clarinet, and oboe;
brass instruments, including trumpet, horns, and trombone.
The earliest playable wind instruments were excavated from a Neolithic site in Henan Province, China, in 1999. The six bone flutes date from between 7000 and 5700
