Kara Sea
Part of the Arctic Ocean off the north coast of the Russian Federation, bounded to the northwest by the island of Novaya Zemlya and to the northeast by Severnaya Zemlya; area 880,000 sq km/339,768 sq mi; average depths 30–100 m/98–328 ft, with a maximum of 620 m/2,034 ft. Novy Port on the Gulf of Ob is the chief port. Dikson is also a main port and is located on the mouth of the Yenisey River, which flows into the Kara Sea.
