Site in Pennsylvania 32 km/20 mi northwest of Philadelphia, USA, where George Washington's army spent the winter of 177778 in great hardship during the American Revolution.
Of the 10,000 men there, 2,500 died of disease and the rest suffered from lack of rations and other supplies; many deserted.
Initially the sun and moon had human faces, but they were removed when the flag was updated in 1962. The flag is said to express the hope that Nepal will endure as long as the sun and the moon. The blue border symbolizes peace. Effective date: 16 December 1962.
