Capital of the Land (administrative region) of MecklenburgWest Pomerania, Germany, on the western shore of the lake of Schwerin; population (1995) 117,200. Products include machinery, foods, and chemicals. Formerly the capital of Mecklenburg and earlier of the old republic of MecklenburgSchwerin, Schwerin became capital of MecklenburgWest Pomerania with the reunification of Germany in 1990.
The yellow of the emblem is said to denote Angola's natural wealth. Red is said to stand for the blood spilt by the freedom fighters. Black represents Africa. Effective date: 11 November 1975.
