Punctuation mark (?) used to indicate an enquiry, placed at the end of a direct question (Who is coming?) or an implied question (This is my reward?). A question mark is never needed at the end of an indirect question (He asked us who was coming), since this is a statement. To express doubt, a writer or editor may insert a question mark (born in ? 1235), often in brackets.
