Nervi, Pier Luigi

Italian engineer. He used soft steel mesh within concrete to give it flowing form; for example, the Turin exhibition hall 1948–49, consisting of a single undulating large-span roof, the UNESCO building in Paris 1953–58, with Marcel Breuer and Bernard-Louis Zehrfuss, and the cathedral at New Norcia, near Perth, Australia, (1960).
