Members of the Royal Family, military veterans, war widows and pop stars have joined together to pay a moving tribute to servicemen and women killed at war.
Those who had made "the ultimate sacrifice for their country" were honoured in a poignant Royal Festival of Remembrance ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday night dedicated to fallen servicemen and women.
This year's event focused on the recent losses of British soldiers in Afghanistan and elsewhere, with moving personal stories broadcast to an audience of family and friends on a video screen.
The Queen, the Prince of Wales and Prime Minister David Cameron were all in attendance at the event, hosted by broadcaster Huw Edwards.
Queen guitarist Brian May performed with singer Kerry Ellis, saluting Her Majesty as he left the stage, and Armed Forces sweetheart Hayley Westenra sang a musical version of Laurence Binyon's For The Fallen, accompanied by actor Bernard Cribbens.
Many current and former members of the Armed Forces were honoured during the ceremony.
They included the Royal Chelsea Hospital Pensioners - with 980 years and 44 medals between them - and representatives of the 9,500 troops still serving in Afghanistan, from the Army, the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force and the Merchant Navy.

A young chorister sang You Are Not Alone during a march by a group of war widows, which left many members of the audience very emotional.
Other highlights included a rendition of It's A Long Way To Go by singer Camilla Kerslake and Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little, and an acrobatics display from the Royal Army Physical Training Corps.
Chart-topping army group The Soldiers also performed with 18-year-old Cadet Band Sergeant Major Hywel Dowsell, who said it was "a dream come true" to be on stage on such a significant event.
