Gordon Brown will seek to discredit Tory attempts to woo disenchanted Labour voters as he takes his General Election campaign tour into vital marginal seats in the East Midlands on Tuesday.
As David Cameron launches the Conservative election manifesto, the Prime Minister will insist that the Tory leader has failed to change his party.
Labour will portray Mr Cameron as all "PR and glitz" while Mr Brown and Chancellor Alistair Darling visit engineering apprentices to promote their plans to create one million skilled jobs.
The party said the Prime Minister would be seeking to respond to questions in front of cameras as he engaged with voters.
He is also due to conduct another house visit, in which he speaks to a small group of residents in the living room of somebody's home.
The Tory manifesto follows Labour's yesterday, when Mr Brown promised to reform public services to "put people in charge" and pledged not to raise income tax rates.
Acknowledging that Labour faced "the fight of our lives" in the May 6 poll, he promised to rebuild the economy and avoid "reckless" cuts in public spending which he said would put the recovery at risk.

Mr Brown is trying to convince voters of his "substance" compared with Mr Cameron's "style". The Prime Minister has pointedly dismissed the need for "pyrotechnics" to win the election.
As the Tories' publish their manifesto proposals today, Labour will claim Mr Cameron is playing to his party rather than the country as a whole.
Labour will be reminding voters of Mr Cameron's central role in the Tory manifesto of 2005, when then leader Michael Howard was rejected at the polls.
