Police are hoping to tempt people sheltering the murderer of a teenage boy with a £50,000 reward for information.

This week sees the second anniversary of Louis Brathwaite's death.

The 16-year-old was blasted inside a William Hill betting shop on Mauldeth Road West in Manchester on January 29 2008.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to the gunshot wound to the abdomen but died 12 days later on Sunday February 10 2008.

So far, detectives have struggled to put the final pieces of the jigsaw together and now hope an increased financial reward will bear fruit.

Detective Inspector Dave Cooney, from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team, said: "I am certain there are people out there who know who is responsible for this terrible crime and who can help bring some comfort to Louis's family by doing the right thing and passing that information to us.

"We have been working tirelessly over the past two years and just need a few key pieces of information to bring his killers to justice - it could only take one phone call.

"Louis was a young lad who would now be 18 with his whole life ahead of him. He was brutally murdered and, tragically, will never get to experience the things many of us take for granted."

An initial reward of £20,000 did not work, but police are hoping the £30,000 increase will change witnesses' minds.
