26/08/2010 11:14

Tesla Roadsters have come first and second in the E-Miglia 2010, the world's first international EV rally.

The E-Miglia 2010, the first pure international electric rally in the world, took place over four days, five Alpine passes and 560 kilometres, and 24 of the 25 e-vehicles, finished.

The number 7 Tesla Roadster Sport of Tim Ruhoff and Steven Hofmann in Team Energiebau won the race together with a 10,000 Euro prize.

A Tesla of Team JuWI Racing came second, only 2.18 minutes behind the leading team - and just 2.09 minutes ahead of Markus Spiekermann of Team Move About Bosch in a Think City. This was an excellent performance from a city car compared to the Teslas.

Other entries included cars from Citroen, Fiat, Tazzari, Smart and Jetcar.

The electric city cars had challenges with battery temperatures in the mountains, as well as with range limitations, but all cars found that regenerative braking proved effective on the downhill sections.

The E-Miglia 2010 event started in Munich, Germany and concluded in Rovereto, Italy, and had mobile charging stations.

The event will definitely be going ahead again next year.
