Terry happy to play the fool

Terry Christian said he "loved" making a fool of himself in the Celebrity Big Brother house, after finishing in second place.

The former Word presenter - who made his name on the outlandish Channel 4 culture show in the 90s - lost out to Ulrika Jonsson but kept viewers entertained embracing tasks and challenges.

Host Davina McCall told him his other housemates seemed worried about making fools of themselves, while he eagerly accepted ridiculous tasks and donned silly costumes.

Terry, 48, said: "It's too late to start worrying about that really.

"I loved doing the tasks, especially the dancing tasks because I knew all my kids would be laughing.

"I even loved getting electric shocks 'cos I knew my lads would be watching.

"I love the show and there's no point coming on it if you're not going to come on and make an idiot of yourself."

The TV presenter said he was delighted to get to the final, even though he hadn't won the show.

He said: "It was a massive surprise, I .....continued below

only had enough clean undies for a week and a half!"

Davina told Terry the biggest mistake he had made, which had possibly lost him viewers' votes, was to say when drunk, that people who ring in and vote for the show's contestants were "thick".

Terry laughed it off saying: "I'd had a few sherbets."

He said he'd got on really well with Coolio, Ben, Tina and Tommy.

Terry claimed he and Coolio got on because he was used to the rapper's overbearing demeanour.

He said: "Being from a big family I'm used to noise every minute so I got on with Coolio. We did all the washing-up anyway, me, Tommy and Coolio, at night anyway."

But Terry admitted he had clashed with Ulrika over washing the dishes.

Quizzed on the problems between them by Davina he said: "One morning we'd been up until half four washing-up and then I got up and she said to me, 'You're washing the pots today' and I thought she was being high handed.

"It wasn't anything dead nasty."

Terry enjoyed watching his best bits, laughing at himself in various ridiculous costumes and situations, particularly worshipping Chesney Hawkes as part of the celebrity cult task.

Asked what he had learned in the Big Brother house Terry said: "I'm full of rubbish. I'm great in pub quiz though."
