This week's singles (released 25th November 2002)

2002-11-26

Bjork - It's In Our Hands

Released off the back of Bjork's brand new 'Greatest Hits' album, 'It's In Our Hands' is yet another example of why this Icelandic pop pixie remains so relevant.

Effortlessly dodging categorisation and increasingly difficult to pin down, her latest single finds Bjork at her genre-smashing best.

Unlike anything else around right now, but still managing to remain easily accessible (a very difficult balance to achieve), it's a stunning release from an artist that seems to become increasingly exciting as the years go by.

All formats include new remixes/bonus tracks alongside some stunning video footage.

  • Atomic Kitten - Last Goodbye: Be With You

Hot-on-the-heels of their number one bothering cover of Blondie's 'The Tide Is High', Lil, Jenny and Tash keep the momentum bubbling along with this superb double A-side release.

First up is the smoulderingly sexy 'The Last Goodbye'; produced by Stargate (and from the latest album) it's the girls at their absolute pop best.

Whilst, as a special treat, there's a brand new track in the shape of sparkling disco-tinted groover 'Be With You'.

Both formats include bonus tracks/extras, whilst CD one is limited and comes with a free poster.

  • Darius - Rushes

As Hear'say disappear into pop's wasteland, it seems like the losers from the original 'Popstars' series are getting better and better with each and every release.

There's Liberty X, of course, and the ever-so-persistent Darius Danesh.

The latest single from his forthcoming album, 'Rushes' (penned by Darius himself when he was just sixteen) is an upbeat, catchy rock-tinted pop song that proves there's more to this talented singer/songwriter than merely performing other people's songs.

    Both formats include bonus tracks/remixes.

  • Enrique Inglesias - Maybe (pictured on previous page)

Originally a highlight from Enrique's latest album, 'Maybe' is given a full UK release and at the same time remixed into a striking, down-tempo ballad.

Another superb performance from the crooning Latino popster, it also comes, across both formats, with some brilliant bonus tracks. CD one adds two excellent live tracks (from 'The One and Only Show') alongside a typically steamy Enrique video whilst CD two (a limited-edition digi-pack) comes with a free poster/calender and two more exclusive bonus tracks.

    Don't miss!

  • Scooter - Posse: I Need You On The Floor

With two hit singles under their belt already this summer (the massive 'Logical Song' and its follow-up 'Nessaja'), Scooter refuse to let the dust settle and return to the UK with yet another bouncy rave-pop anthem.

What can you say? Following the similar up-for-it techno-pop stance of its predecessors, 'Posse (I Need You On The Floor)' is another hi-energy bounce-a-long of manic beats, back-in-the-day hardcore stylings and relentless energy that'll move most dancefloors it comeswithin a hundred yards of.

Both formats also add a brilliant new N-Trance mix.

  • Ronan Keating featuring Lulu - We've Got Tonight

Ronan Keating returns to the pop fray this week, only this time, the Irish crooner isn't alone. Roping in the multi-talented Lulu on singing duties, 'We've Got Tonight' is a superb duet from two wonderful talents at opposite ends of the singing spectrum.

Originally performed by the duo on 'An Audience With Lulu', it looks like this beautiful ballad could easily follow previous Ronan slowie, 'If Tomorrow Never Comes', to the higher echelons of the charts.

This release also includes brilliant new track 'All I Have Is My Heart' alongside Ronan's version of the Elvis classic 'In The Ghetto' (recorded live for BBC's 'RE: Covered') and the new video.

  • Alicia Keys - Girlfriend

Since launching her debut album in mid 2001, the impact Alicia Keys has made on the contemporary music scene is immense.

'Girlfriend', from her latest album, very successfully showcases all that has made her one of the world's most successful and critically acclaimed new artists.

Co-written and produced by Jermaine Dupri, it's another classy, piano led slice of sophisticated r'n'b that'll cement Keys' already rock solid star credentials in stone.

Both formats of this releasecome with new, more dancefloor orientated remixes, alongside bonus track 'Trouble'.

  • Liam Lynch - United States Of Whatever

The name might not be familiar, but this little gem soon will be!

The work of musician, actor, songwriter and general 'creative' jack-of-all-trades, Liam Lynch, whatever (no pun intended) 'United States Of Whatever' lacks in lyrical content it more than makes up for with spiky, to-the-point, late 60's sounding garage-rock stylings. Naggingly brilliant, with it's 'yeah, like, whatever...' line set to become a catchphrase for a whole army of slackers, it's a brilliant debut from a fresh, versatile and exciting young talent.

  • Anastacia - You'll Never Be Alone (pictured above)

She's recently been nominated for a handful of MTV awards recently and it seems like Anastacia can't put a well-heeled pop foot wrong at the moment.

A new single from her massively successful latest album, 'You'll Never Be Alone' is another uplifting performance from the versatile US diva.

Allowing Anastacia to stretch her incredible vocal talents to the max, this is an uplifting ballad that proves there's so much more to her than fiery pop and dance.

This CD also includes a superb ballad with Celine Dion.
