The new album, Songs From The West Coast, is out on 1 October and sees the great-granddad of pop reunited with his long-term writing partner Bernie Taupin.
The sound of the record is pared down and back-to-basics with just a touch of rocknroll about it. According to the man himself: Just me, piano and voice, the whole album is very much in the vein of Tumbleweed Connection or Madman Across The Water - on this album, Im just going to be as Elton as I can!
Following the craze for Hollywood stars in music vids, the I Need Love video sees Robert Downey Jnr walking toward the camera through an empty apartment and doing a very convincing one-shot lip-sync.
