Craig David - Spanish (pictured above)

Although his profile might not be as high as it once was (thanks not in the least part to Channel 4's hilariously vitriolic Bo Selecta show), Craig David still remains one of the UK's most versatile and talented urban artists.

Seemingly getting better and better with each and every release, here, after the success of 'Rise' (his duet with Sting), the man returns to the kind of sophisticated r'n'b that he seems to have made all his own.

The song itself is riddled with catchy pop hooks that he does so well...and a memorably punchy chorus with some restrained but powerful vocals.

Whilst the remixes add different flavours for the dancefloor and the live tracks only confirm what an incredible talent he remains.

  • Ian Mcculloch - Love In Veins

A splendidly uplifting slice of pure, unadulterated pop, 'Love In Veins' is the new single to come from Echo & The Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch's latest solo album, 'Slideling'.

Arguably one of the album's finest, the riff-heavy original version is also joined by Mac's impressive version of David Bowie's 'The Prettiest Star' and the beautifully minimalistic 'Arthur (Prague)'.

He continues to get better and better!

  • Blu Cantrell & Sean Paul - Breathe

Last seen in the UK charts with her firing urban debut 'Hit 'Em Up Style', Blu Cantrell returns this week with another brilliant single, this time in the shape of 'Breathe'.

Featuring a guest vocal from untouchable dancehall star Sean Paul, this is a laidback and catchy mix of r'n'b and ragga that has summertime written all over it, whilst the mixes add a little variety for the dancefloor.

  • Robbie Williams - Something Beautiful

Never a man to lie back on his laurels and take it easy, Robbie Williams returns this week with new single 'Something Beautiful', the third, and arguably finest, from his latest album, 'Escapology'.

Typical Robbie pop brilliance, this release not only serves as an uplifting pre-amble to the man's record-breaking Knebworth appearances but also comes, across both formats, with some very fine bonus tracks and, in the case of the DVD, fine video extras as well. Don't miss!

  • Junior Senior - Rhythmn Bandits

Carlsberg. Bacon. Lurpak. These are a list of some of Denmark's favourite things...well, that's before Junior Senior came along rocking everyone's existence with their hypnotisingly brilliant debut release, 'Move Your Feet'.

That brightened up everyone's winter and now the Junior Senior duo return with an equally infectious follow-up in the shape of the brilliant 'Rhythm Bandits'. Set for summer greatness, the addictive original is also joined by a cool bonus cut, 'Cocodub', as well as a remix from Brighton's other breakbeat hero, Krafty Kuts.

  • Lisa Maffia - In Love

Having successfully stepped out of the So Solid Crew's considerable shadow with her debut single, 'All Over', Lisa Maffia returns this week with 'In Love', the second single from a debut album that's already promising to be very special indeed.

A complete swing away from the raucous posturing of her feisty debut, 'In Love' is a sultry, summery love song that shows there's a depth and sophistication to this talented young starlet that her debut didn't even hint at.

Whilst each of the two formats also comes with some cool remixes for those that like it a little more upbeat.

  • Hiss - Clever Kicks

Highly-touted rockers The Hiss follow up the release of their limited edition 'Back On The Radio' single with the release of the brilliant 'Clever Kicks', the first taster of their long-awaited debut album, 'Panic Movement'.

Produced by Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve, Ash), who's already claiming it's the best album he has worked on since 'Definitely Maybe', 'Clever Kicks' is an incendiary new rock single that are already looking like one of the new bands to watch in the remainder of 2003. Both formats also add some cool bonus tracks.

  • Kosheen - All In My Hand

Having been away for the last six months or so fine honing their forthcoming album, Kosheen return this week with a catchy little taster of what's looking like a 'slight' change in direction for the talented trio.

Veering away from their dancefloor/drum & bass roots to a more poppy, radio-friendly sound, 'All In My Head' is a daring, but very promising, step forward for a group that always hinted there was gonna be a lot more to them than clubs and festivals.

But don't worry, forfans of their dancefloor roots, this single also comes with some ace remixes that are already picking up plays from deejays.

  • Hot Hot Heat - No Not Now

Having taken both the charts and the rock underground by storm with their catchy pop-punk debut single, 'Bandages', Canadian outfit Hot Hot Heat return this week with 'No Not Now', an equally raucous single to its brilliant predecessor. All set to see this promising young band cross even further into the UK's rock mainstream, the fist punching, pogo inducing original is also joined by some equally good bonus tracks. A worthy follow-up to 'Bandages'!

  • Lucy Carr - This Is Goodbye

Having rocked the charts (and the dancefloors) with her debut single 'Missing You', Lucy Carr returns this week with 'This Is Goodbye', her latest majestic pop-dance treat. Produced by Kenny Hayes, this single is already looking like it's got what it takes to work the trancier and more commercial floors throughout the summer, whilst LMC, Monteverde and Kenny Hayes himself add different vibes for the more up-for-it floors out there.

  • Dandy Warhols - You Were The Last High

The Dandy Warhols follow the brilliant 'We Used To Be Friends' with the equally cool 'You Were The Last High', the second single from their latest album, 'Welcome To The Monkey House'.

Co-written by Evan Dando, it's already proved a bit of fave with the fans and music hacks alike, and now it's simple uplifting acoustic pop brilliance is available this week across three formats with a whole host of ace bonus tracks and B-sides.

  • The Veils - Guiding Light

Guiding Light is the follow-up to last year's debut single More Heat Than Light (Bonus tracks Need is Water and Death & Co. were produced by Kenny Jones and The Veils).

The veils run the middle ground between driving rocky music and melodic leanings.

Guiding Light is taken from The Veils forthcoming album, which will be released in the autumn, and it's definitely a grower.

The band will shortly be commencing a support tour with Bell X1.

  • M38 - Run Into Flowers

Run Into Flowers is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts from French duo M83.

Run Into Flowers with its building crescendo of beautifully emotive melody, precedes the release of Dead Cities (which hits stores on August 25th 2003 both on Labels UK).

M83's distinct sound emerged after just one album: both modern and melancholic.

The group manage to make machines seem human by endowing them with a mysterious and innocent character, one that mirrors the personality of the two band members, Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau.

In 2000, at the tender age of twenty, these two boys from Antibes, France, decided to lift their eyes from their guitars and turn their gaze towards the stars (the band's name is that of a distant galaxy), via ambitious inter-galactic compositions influenced by Tangerine Dream and Mogwai.

Percy Filth - Show Me Your Monkey

The Lil Devious boys return this week with a brand new name and a distinctive new sound - welcome to the twisted world of Percy Filth!

Coming through Norman Cook's increasingly prolific Southern Fried label, 'Show Me Your Monkey' is a sublime slice of filthy sex driven electro-tech featuring a killer, if slightly risque, vocal hook that'll be huge this summer.

Whilst on the remix tip; Italians Punkers Cheetah turn the original into a firing mix of electro, trance and house and the hotter-than-hot Sam La More takes time out to turn in two blazing, straight-up no-nonsense house versions.

  • Radio 4 - Start A Fire

Another slice of punky-funky rock-pop from the Radio 4 boys. This tune finds them in fine guitar-lead form...a real indie dancefloor filler that will imbed itself in your head before you know it.

  • Mankato - Wasted

Mankato is a singer songwriter from the East End of London, and has the gift of being able to write some interesting an beguiling melodies that owe a debt to Bowie the Beatles, and a touche of Squeeze.

This is certainly not the strongest track on the album, but certainly a nice introduction to Mankato's sweet melodies, guitar-strummy pop rock songs, and subject matter - being drugged up but not being ashamed of it.

Vapour Trails (the second track on the single) also holds up as a rather beautiful tune.

His debut album is out soon too - so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
