The Killers - the thrillers - that's how you came away feeling after their only London gig on their current 'Hot Fuss' tour. They've swept the UK away with their debut album 'Hot Fuss' whilst their native US is yet to be drawn in by their often retro 80's influences by the likes of Pink Floyd, New Order, The Cure and The Clash.
They got the audience really going before they'd even got on stage! With members of the band tuning up and then with intro. Of 'I Love you Baby' by Frankie Valli - we couldn't wait, after all this anticipation. They start the set with their hit single 'Mr.Brightside', which goes down a real treat and is just the start of a big, big night.
A brief chat from Brandon Flowers (vocalist & yricist) with the audience in a poetic rhetoric sort of that proclaims there is a story throughout the album and all the names are real people and real experiences (Jenny, Natalie & Andy how many questions we could ask them!) Wow! It just gets better - they swiftly move onto 'Smile like you mean it' and then introduce a few new tunes a notable one is 'Kill me, kill me'. After a short lull the crowd is back in full swing with a fantastic live version 'Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine' followed on by 'Andy you're a star' with people waving their arms in the arms in the style of hard-core followers.
They play another new track and then carry on through the album with highlights including 'Indie Rock and Roll', 'On Top' & 'Somebody told me'. They finish with their fantastic track 'All the things I've done', which is also the last track on their album. You're left wanting more and there will be more to come, and one thing's for sure, these guys can't be missed so if they've playing at a festival this year get your tickets now! - 2005 is the year of the Killers.
