Album release: 8th November 2004
Featuring twelve brand new co-writes between Elton John and Bernie Taupin, 'Peach Tree Road' might even rival some of Elton's best work.
Heavily influenced by the sounds of the American south (pedal steel and acoustic guitar often flit between the trademark piano), this is an album that really takes you by surprise.
Despite the slightly over-preened production, and the creeping feeling of Disney cuddliness lurking at the start of every other chorus, this is a return to from the man who was once know as Reg.
Vocally, Elton's range is wider, and his tone is deeper and more expressive than ever before, adding a weight and profundity to some of Taupin's words that has long been vacant.
Stand-out track: My Elusive Drug.
